The Wazau-MMS-Test-Device allows tests compliant to ISO9185/EN373 to examine the behaviour of protective cloths on impact of large splashes of molten metal.
The main test procedure is given as follows:
A defined mass of metal is heated inside a crucible, using a external furnace. When the material is completely melted, the crucible is taken out off the oven, using a detachable crucible holder and is clamped to the test apparatus. When connected to the test apparatus, the crucible is tilted at defined angular velocity and the molten metal is poured on the specimen.
The heat penetration resistance of the specimen is assessed by visible damages on a PVC sensor film underneath the specimen after the impact as to mass, material and impact angle of the metal. To achieve comparable results, tests have to be performed at defined ambient conditions using preconditioned specimen.
