Severn Trent De Nora Acquires ClorTec® On-site Sodium Hypochlorite Generation Technology from Severn Trent Services
Transfer of product line to further strengthen Severn Trent De Nora’s global position in electrochlorination systems technology
Following a year-long review of its electrochlorination technology assets, Severn Trent Services has transferred its ClorTec® on-site sodium hypochlorite generation product line to Severn Trent De Nora. Effective immediately, the ClorTec line will now be managed from Severn Trent De Nora’s corporate headquarters in Sugar Land, Texas.
Consolidation of Severn Trent Services’ electrochlorination technology under Severn Trent De Nora began with the acquisition of Chlorine Engineers’ CECHLO seawater and brine electrochlorination systems in July 2012. Through the transfer of the ClorTec product line, Severn Trent De Nora is now able to offer a broader portfolio of electrochlorination products across a variety of markets and customer applications.
Dating back to 1988, more than 3,000 ClorTec on-site sodium hypochlorite generating systems have been installed worldwide. On-site generation is a proven, cost-effective, reliable and safe alternative disinfection treatment method. ClorTec systems increase safety by eliminating the need to transport hazardous chemicals and store them on site. The systems also reduce risks by eliminating the production of disinfection byproducts, helping to provide water that is free of pathogens.
The addition of the ClorTec technology will serve to further strengthen Severn Trent De Nora’s global position as a leader in electrochlorination technology and support emerging markets such as Asia and the Middle East. By consolidating all electrochlorination technologies within one business, Severn Trent De Nora can further leverage research and development activities to provide long-term sustainability of the ClorTec product line.
