Comments: This line was derived from the X-ray resistant L5178-R line (ATCC CRL-1722).
The cells are sensitive to X-rays, ultraviolet radiation, heat and some potential anti neoplastic drugs (e.g., cis-PAD).
The parental cell line was derived from the L5178 thymic lymphoma induced by methylcholanthrene in a DBA/2 mouse.
Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: Fischer's medium with 0.1 g/L sodium pyruvate and 1.125 sodium bicarbonate, 90%; horse serum, 10%
Subculturing: Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 1 X 10 exp4 cells/ml and maintain between 5 X 10 exp3 and 7 X 10 exp5 cells/ml.
Preservation: culture medium, 90%; DMSO, 10%
