About OmicronBio
Omicron Biochemicals, Inc. OmicronBio develops new and improved methods to introduce stable isotopes, primarily 13C, 2H, 15N and 18O, into biologically-important compounds. We specialize in the synthesis of labeled carbohydrates, nucleosides, and their derivatives, but will undertake the synthesis of other classes of compounds on a custom basis. Our OmicronBio particular strengths lie in the preparation of site-specifically labeled compounds, but we are also capable of producing uniformly labeled products.
The approaches used in synthesis include chemical, chemi-enzymic, enzymic and biological methods. We also collaborate with other laboratories as needed to develop new products or distribute our products.
We take pride in providing quality stable isotopes in support of a wide range of scientific research programs worldwide. Our research activities frequently result in publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals, either independently or in conjunction with other research groups. We are a flexible research and development company, with both activities receiving equal weight and attention.
Our OmicronBio company name, Omicron, is the greek letter meaning "small". Congruent with our name, our mission is to maintain a compact and efficient biotechnology enterprise dedicated to providing trusted research support and state-of-the-art products for our customers, and a growth environment for our employees.

OmicronBio Corporate Facilities
Omicron Biochemicals, Inc. OmicronBio is located at 115 South Hill Street, South Bend, Indiana 46617-2701.
This facility was designed from the ground up for the efficient synthesis and separation of stable labeled saccharides, nucleosides, and their derivatives. Our main building, occupied in July 2006, provides expanded research, production and analytical space as well as an enlarged shipping and order processing area. In 2012, we increased our focus on sustainable energy with the installation of a 19-panel, 4.5-kilowatt solar array on the roof.

OmicronBio Corporate History
Omicron Biochemicals, Inc. is a privately-held corporation. The company was founded in 1982 by Anthony Serianni and Robert Barker, both then at Cornell University. The company was initially incorporated in the State of New York and its corporate office was located in Ithaca, New York until 1986. In 1986, Omicron was re-incorporated in the State of Indiana and all of its operations were relocated to South Bend, Indiana. The laboratory was located on the University of Notre Dame campus from September 1982 to October 1994. In October 1994, Omicron moved off of the Notre Dame campus to Ironwood Drive in South Bend. The Ironwood Drive facility was used from 1994 to 2006. In July of 2006 we moved into our current laboratory facility on Hill Street in South Bend. Today, we are a world wide supplier of specialty stable isotopes.
OmicronBio President's Note
Dear Customer:
In March of 2012, Omicron Biochemicals, Inc. celebrated its 30th year in business. Despite the continued growth of the company, especially in recent years, we remain faithful to our corporate mission as defined initially in 1982: to provide high quality stable isotopically-labeled carbohydrates and their derivatives at competitive prices, to provide our customers with exceptional technical service, and to provide opportunities for the professional growth of our employees. We are proud to present our web site and invite you to take a few moments to become familiar with our products and services.
Omicron is a privately-owned research and development company with expertise in saccharide and nucleoside chemistry and biochemistry. We routinely conduct large-scale syntheses of labeled saccharides that are used in chemical, biochemical, metabolic, and biomedical studies. Compounds containing single, multiple or uniform enrichment with 13C, 2H, 15N and/or 18O are prepared routinely in our facility. In addition, basic research and custom synthesis are prime missions of our business. Our scientific team participates in research projects on a collaborative basis, and we encourage inquiries along these lines.
We have maintained our original synthetic philosophy to prepare labeled carbohydrate building blocks for use directly or as precursors in the preparation of more complex biomolecules. This business strategy simplifies the identification of products that we offer routinely, and provides the needed in-house foundation on which to build larger labeled structures. Custom syntheses are conducted on a case-by-case basis, so please contact us if a particular compound is not listed on this site. We have broad experience in the synthesis of labeled and unlabeled saccharides and nucleosides and are eager to assist you.
Over the past few years, Omicron has devoted increased attention to the preparation of labeled nucleosides and nucleotides. We also have improved capabilities to prepare labeled saccharides relevant to glycobiology; for example, [13C]sialic acid, [13C]fucose, and [13C]aminosugars are standard offerings.
All Omicron products listed on our web site and in our catalog are prepared to meet high standards of chemical and isotopic purity. Customer needs and concerns are addressed fully and promptly by phone, E-mail or via our web site.
I thank you, our customers, for your business, and invite you to choose the Omicron team the next time labeled saccharides and their derivatives are required for your studies.
Sincerely,
Anthony S. Serianni, Ph.D.
