Description
The ViPrimePLUS Neospora caninum qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Neospora caninum genome in clinical faeces samples.
Neospora caninum is a protozoan parasite that primarily infects dogs and cattle causing neosporosis. It is also associated with sheep, goat, deer and horses. The transmission cycle between dogs and cattle occur when dogs pass out oocysts in their faeces, which are then ingested by the grazing cattle. Vertical transmission is observed in dogs and sheep which leads to abortion, premature birth and birth of animals with persistent infection. In cattle, N. caninum is an important cause of spontaneous abortion, infertility and reduction in milk yield. Dogs may develop rigid hyperextension, forelimb ataxia, head tremors, myocarditis and pneumonia, where the puppies will show neurological signs.
ViPrimePLUS Neospora caninum qPCR Kit is intended for research use only.
