Description
The ViPrimePLUS Haemophilus ducreyi qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Haemophilus ducreyi genomes in clinical samples (e.g. ulcer and genital swabs).
Haemophilus ducreyi is a fastidious, Gram negative coccobacillus, which is another common cause of Chancroid, a painful genital ulcer disease, aside from T. pallidum, C. trachomatis and herpes simplex viruses. This sexually transmitted pathogen causes opportunistic infection by breaking the skin epithelial layer and then invading the epidermis, thus resulting in inflammation at the infected site. It eventually leads to ulceration. The ulcers and enlarged inguinal lymph nodes are painful and easily ruptured. Exposures to open sores are highly infectious. The infection is endemic in many developing countries with lower socioeconomic status and is somehow linked to elevated risk of HIV infections. Generally, Chancroid affects males predominantly. Treatment is via antibiotic administration, though some resistant strains have emerged.
ViPrimePLUS Haemophilus ducreyi qPCR Kit is intended for research use only.
