Description
The ViPrimePLUS Microsporum canis qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Microsporum canis genome in skin and scalp samples.
Microsporum canis (M. canis) is a dermatophyte which causes dermatophytosis in cats and dogs. It also causes superficial infections of the scalp (tinea capitis) in humans and ringworm in cats and dogs. Transmission of the fungus is via contact with infected animals or arthrospores contaminated environment. The hardy spore will survive for 2 years at harsh condition. After attaching to the skin, the spores germinate into hyphae which will grow on dead, superficial skin cells. The infection will lead to hypersensitive reaction on skin, causing inflammation. Fungus will move to uninfected skin in circular manner forming ringworm.
ViPrimePLUS Microsporum canis qPCR Kit is intended for research use only.
