Product Description
Human Ceruloplasmin
Human Ceruloplasmin is a ferroxidase enzyme that, in humans, is encoded by the CP gene. It is the major copper-carrying protein in the blood. Human CER is an enzyme synthesized in the liver containing 8 atoms of copper in its structure. Although it is often considered a copper transport protein, this is not its primary function, just as human hemoglobin is not a carrier of iron, although it contains iron. The main carrier for copper in the plasma of humans is albumin. Human Ceruloplasmin enzyme (ferroxidase) catalyzes the oxidation of ferrous iron (Fe2) to ferric iron (Fe3), therefore assisting in Human Ceruloplasmin enzyme transport in the plasma in association with transferrin, which can only carry iron in the ferric state.
This product is for in vitro research use only, is not to be consumed by animals or humans, and should be handled with general precaution as if capable of spreading infectious disease.
