Key Features and Values
Unique Features
- Animal Models of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis:
- Easy, non-invasive quantification of cartilage degradation1
- Strong association to indexes of joint damage2
- Early response in COMP is highly correlated to histological endpoints
- COMP is elevated in both RA and OA rat models
- COMP levels are associated with disease activity in RA and OA3
- Useful for dynamic monitoring of cartilage in multiple species
- A complete assay panel supporting bone and cartilage research
Product Description
Animal COMP® ELISA provides a method for the determination of Cartilage Oligomeric Matrix Protein (COMP) in Rat, Mouse, Sheep, Bovine, Pig and Goat serum.
Scientific Description
COMP is a protein which is released in the blood when cartilage is destroyed and can be used prognostically for cartilage destruction in inflammatory joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA).
A quantitative relation between COMP concentration in serum and the degree of cartilage destruction has been shown.
