3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine/IBMX is a nonselective inhibitor.IBMX can induce melanogenesis. Hence, it is considered as a positive control in melanogenesis studies.
3-Isobutyl-1-methylxanthine has been used: • in the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) • in adipogenic differentiation • in glucose-stimulated insulin secretion test (GSIS) • in the characterization of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells • cAMP assay
