Functions | Transcription factor which acts as both an activator and repressor. KLF4 binds the CACCC core sequence. It also binds to multiple sites in the 5'-flanking region of its own gene and can activate its own transcription. KLF4 is required for establishing the barrier function of the skin and for postnatal maturation and maintenance of the ocular surface. KLF4 is one of the four factors in the Yamanaka protocol for iPSC reprogramming. The purified recombinant protein has a 6X His tag at N-terminus for purification and 9X poly-arginine at C-terminus for cell membrane penetration. |
