Description | Human Corneal Epithelial Cells are major components of the human cornea, a unique tissue that is transparent, avascular, and with resident immune cells. The corneal epithelium plays an important role in the innate immune response by sensing pathogens and providing activating signals for corneal innate immune system. It also protects cornea from UV and 4-hydroxynonenal induced cellular damage. These cells are ideal models for study in gene regulation and tissue development. They are also commonly used in study of cell-matrix interactions and for toxicology test. |

Propagation | Use of PriCoat™ T25 Flasks (G299) or . Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) is required for cell adhesion to the culture vessels. Grow cells in ECM-coated culture vessels with the following conditions. The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow X series medium available in ABM, Cat. No. TM4058. Atmosphere: air, 95%; Carbon dioxide (CO2), 5%. |
